Intolerance Symptoms
Food intolerance
Though not usually life threatening like some allergies, can cause very unpleasant symptoms. The problem for most people with identifying the foods that are causing the problems, is that with intolerance symptoms may not show their face for several hours after eating and sometimes even days.
Food intolerances can come about by certain antibodies called IgG, which are produced by the body against specific foods, or they may come about due to an enzyme deficiency. In the case of the latter, supplementing the diet with a digestive enzyme formula such as Digestaid
(Biocare) or Supergest (Higher Nature) may help. A helpful herbal formula that helps with maintenance of a healthy metabolism and gentle support for the stomach is Neways'
Digestamin.
If you think your symptoms may be in response to food intolerances, these can be tested accurately either with a simple blood test procedure, or using
Kinesiology. For those who prefer a clinical approach, then the blood test would be for you. Choose from 46 foods check out the selection of tests at Higher Nature. Blood samples are taken from a single finger prick and sent to a laboratory for testing. For further details, please check our
prices or please contact us.
For those who like the concept of being able to discover connections between one thing and another, i.e.
sensitivies to chemicals, influencing factors such as bacteria, fungus, environmental etc. - in addition to identifying the offending foods - then
Kinesiology is superb for identifying a more in-depth picture.
Food Allergies
It is important not to confuse food intolerance with allergies, as food allergies are caused by a different set of antibodies called IgE antibodies. Symptoms that are caused by IgE antibodies are usually immediate, much more severe and in some cases life threatening. Seafood and nuts are examples of common food allergies, whilst dairy and wheat are very common examples of food intolerance.
